Promise Keepers was honored to host the Day of Repentance held Friday, August 31 at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado prior to the Conference A Time to Honor. Our hope and prayer is for what happened to be a catalyst for national and world wide repentance, personally and identificationally that will purify the Church of the Living God and lead to revival and renewal of the Body of Christ.
The Day was viewed on the web by people, and was announced and promoted by many ministries and individuals across the country.
It almost sounds trite to say that “we couldn’t have done it without you,” but it’s true. A special thanks to those who served on the Steering Committee: Tom Smith, Pastor Ken Wilde, Pastor Don Finto, Jerry & Judy Ball, Bob Bakke, Nancy McDaniel, Rabbi Eric Carlson, Rabbi Jack Jacobs, Jason Hershey, Dick Simmons, Apostle/Pastor John Benefiel, Apostle Jay Swallow, Jean Steffenson, Melva Lea Beacham and David Chao
Worship was led by Dave Powers and friends, which was outstanding and truly “Spirit-led.” Pastor Bob Bakke was awesome in facilitating the entire 4 hour event as Emcee.
For those who were platform participants, some of which served on the Steering Committee included: Coach Mac, Dr. Raleigh Washington, Chief Anne Richardson, Jane Hansen Hoyt, Evangeline Weiner, Jerry Ball, Pastor David McQueen, Don Finto, Rabbi Dan Juster, Rabbi Avi Mizarchi, Allan Parker, Apostle Ardell Daniels, Lou Engle, Lisa Crump, Rabbi Michael Walker, Pastor Billy Wilson, Dick Eastman, Pastor Bryan Schwartz, Matt Lickett, Nancy Weldon, Bishop Harry Jackson, and Jackie Pick.
Even though as one media representative commented concerning the platform participants that they were “world class,” everyone laid down their agendas and picked the agenda of the King and His Kingdom to genuinely seek the face of the Lord and not His hand.
The writer of Hebrews reminds us that “repentance” is a foundation of faith. May the Day of Repentance be not just an event but a lifestyle across the Church.
We anticipate having links available by August 15.
It is our expectation that the Day of Repentance will be a part of future Promise Keepers Conference events that will likewise serve to prepare the ground for God’s manifest presence (His kavod) to touch lives of attendees to the Conference.
A note from Susan Turner on August 4th about the Day of Repentance:
Dear Capitol Hill Prayer Partners, “Night Watch,” National Day of Prayer “Watchmen of the Night,” Promise Keepers, AGLOW , End-Time Handmaidens/Servants, precious believing saints and all other ministries:
As Friends of God…
This past week, we asked for your undergirding prayer and for God’s Blessings upon Israel as they observed the Ninth of Av, the Jew’s “Time Between the Troubles” commemorating the destruction of both Holy Temples.
We also asked you to join us wherever you were to assemble for a national corporate “Day of Repentance,” and to watch or join us for Promise Keepers’ 20th Anniversary, “A Time to Honor.”
Here is a “snapshot” of the Day of Repentance
Overcast morning skies didn’t dampen the prayers of intercessors on Friday as they began earnestly seeking God’s face for the “Day of Repentance.” They came together unified saying:
“We gather here today as citizens of the United States of America and as citizens of God’s Kingdom.”
Areas of Repentance included: The Sin of Abortion, The Sins of Homosexuality and Sexual Immorality, The Sin of Hypocrisy, The Sin of Arrogance and Indifference to the Poor, and The Sin of Arrogance and Indifference Towards Israel.
The solemn time of assembly ended with:
On this day of July 31st, 2009 we have gathered to confess with our mouths the sins of our nation. As You O Lord are the Author and Judge of heavenly Law, it is only Thee who has the right to choose between judgment and mercy. On behalf of our nation, we ask You Lord to consider mercy.
2 Chronicles 7:14-16 — “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.”
